Tell Me Your Song
I guess I've changed because now, I can think of more than 10 friends who I can tag. I just don't know the rule as to how many I could tag, so I simply named two friends at the end.
Anyway, as I was saying, I wasn't asked to do this. I just stumbled upon it in one of Salve's friends' blog, which is also now my friend (yeah, I'm a friend grabber, hehehe). I loved the game so much, that I hinted at my new-found friend, Sonnet, that I want to do it. Mercifully, she got the not-so-subtle hint and she tagged me. (Wink emoticon here)
So here I am, doing a tagging game even if I was not asked, bullied, coerced, or forced to do it. But of course, like I usually do, I again broke some rules. But don't worry. I’ve been breaking some little rules for as long as I remember, and this one wouldn’t cause my banning in the blogosphere. I hope. (Another wink emoticon here.)
Here’s the rule: Answer the questions with song titles (your fave songs or songs that you like to play most of the time). No side comments please. Let the song titles explain your answer.
[The rule I broke: Not all the songs listed here my favorites. I researched some! Hehe! ]
1. How am I feeling today? Bluer than Blue by Regine Velasquez
2. Where/when will I get married? Quando, Quando, Quando by Engelbert Humperdinck
3. What is my best friend’s theme song? Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson
4. What is/was highschool like? Sana Maulit Muli by Regine Velasquez
5. What is the best thing about me? Honesty by Billy Joel
6. How is today going to be? Waiting by Mariah Carey
7. What is in store for this weekend? There’s a Kind of Hush by Karen Carpenter
8. What song describes my parents? Endless Love by Lionel Richie
9. How is my life going? Constant Change by Jose Mari Chan
10. What song will they play at my funeral? As I Lay Me Down To Sleep by Sophie B. Hawkins
11. How does the world see me? A Ray of Sunshine by George Michael
12. What do my friends really think of me? Wind Beneath my Wings by Bette Midler
13. Do people secretly lust after me? Maybe by Sheryn Regis
14. How can I make myself happy? The Voice Within by Christina Aguilera
15. What should I do with my life? Follow you Dream by Sheryn Regis
16. Will I ever have children? Little Girl by Christina Aguilera
17. What is some good advice? Tell Him by Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand
18. What does everyone else think of my current life? Isn’t it a Wonder? by Boyzone
19. What type of men/women do you like? Honesty by Billy Joel
20. Will you get married? I Do by 98 Degrees
21. Where will you live? The Town I Love so Well by Ronan Keating
22. What will your dying words be? Lift up your Hands to God by Gary Valenciano
Ok. I’m tagging Tam because she might think it’s fun and Salve because I know she's gonna do it! Hehehehehe!

Let’s Do a Van Gogh
After Picasso head, Mandy has again discovered another thing that is sure to be a hit in the blogosphere. It’s called bomomo.Like Mr. Picasso Head, this also lets non-artists to unleash their hidden creativity using lines and colors. Now, folks who cannot even differentiate an oil painting from a watercolor, like me, can become “painters” in the almost-real sense of the word.
I am very excited about this ‘discovery’ because I see a vast potential in it. I can now ‘paint’ images for my poems. You see, there are times when I wish I have pictures that go well
And what’s more, it’s also fun. I’ve tried it and I couldn’t stop. Hah! I suggest you try it. Better yet, do it with your kids. I’m sure they’ll love it!
What are you waiting for? Click HERE and begin unleashing your pent-up creativity!
Have fun...
[PS: The pictures here are my very first abstract ‘paintings.’ Don’t ask me what they mean, though. ;-) ]
Again, you are welcome to post your creations here. (Please do!)Just use the code below.

Simply upload your creations, then copy the URL. Using the code above, put the URL of your painting at the URL section (red font) and type in the words you want to appear in your link at the green part of the code.

Picasso Your Head
When it was first posted by Mandy, everyone, me included, had lots of fun doing it. It became an instant craze. But I guess it was another blogger-friend, Michelle, who got the worst Picasso-head bug. She actually drew each of her blogger-friends! And oh, boy! She is so talented that most of her drawings are recognizable!
Michelle also ‘drew’ me and I love her Picasso version of me very much. I think she was looking at my avatar through eyes that highlight what’s beautiful in everyone when she was making my Picasso head (or perhaps all the time), that’s why I came out looking very beautiful in her drawing. I haven’t looked that beautiful in a long while. ;-)
Here is Michelle’s drawing of me:
Cool, isn’t it?
Come on folks, try it too and have loads of fun. It’s something you can do to pass the time, or to have fun with your little kids and even with friends and loved ones who are kids at heart!
And oh, do show me your drawings by giving the links at the comment section. Please....
I love his drawings so much. ;-) Now, I understand why he had been pestering me to wear ponytails this afternoon, hehehe!
Simply copy the code, put the URL of your picasso head drawing at the URL section (red font) and type in the words you want to appear in your link at the green part of the code.

Collector’s Items
There is a game in the blogosphere that has been going on for some time, called tagging, where bloggers tag other bloggers. This is how it works. One blogger would start a topic, usually something about himself or herself, say, ‘three weird things about me.’ The blogger would make a list with some explanations. At the end of the list, the blogger would tag some of his blogger friends. Those tagged are expected to do the same.
I have been tagged many times by my good friend, Salve, but I haven’t done some tagging yet (until now, that is), because I can’t think of someone to victimize, hehehe. But with or without victims, I think I should do some of the games.
First up: three addictions. (Although I am more inclined to call it ‘collections.’ I don’t think I am addicted to anything besides my ‘Dungngo.’ Also, I am listing more than three. Hehehe Pasaway talaga ako. Sowi…)

As to what I read, well, it varies depending on my mood, but my all-time favorites are those of James Clavell, Paolo Coehlo, Richard Paul Evans, Jeffrey Archer, Nicolas Sparks, and James Grisham, Leon Uris, JK Rowling and Mark Twain.
Of late, I have been buying lots of books, sometimes 3 to 5 titles at a time. My collection is not yet vast from the standard of a real bookworm (just about 200 titles), but then, I started only last year (I used to just borrow books from my friends). I know it would take years, even a lifetime, to build a mini-library of my own, but part of the fun is seeing my collection slowly grow.
Coins. When OFW relatives and friends ask me what I want for pasalubong, I always ask for low-denomination coins. They usually laugh at me, saying I don’t ask much. But I definitely treasure these kinds of gifts (I can’t collect them on my own).
I also collect old coins. I’ve been pestering my grandmother to look for the olds coins she must have kept, but to date, she hadn’t produced any! Huh!
So far, I now have coins from Hong Kong, Belgium, US, UAE, Australia, Singapore, Mauritius.

Bead jewelry. What girl in her right mind would not love those beautiful accessories, especially those made of crystal and glass? I am just into beads that I make mine myself. They’re just so lovely that when people ask me where I bought them, I am always proud to say I made them. :-)
Wedding/debut giveaways. I know they are inexpensive, but there’s something about them that I just love. Maybe it’s because they remind me of friends’ happy times. Maybe because they’re pretty. Or maybe because, like trophies, they are things you can afford to buy for yourself, but won’t (of course).

Ribbons and cords. I find ribbons and colored cords very lovely. I collect ribbons from ribboned gifts, from the flower bouquets my Dungngo sends me, and even from ribboned merchandizes. I also buy from gift shops for the gifts I wrap (Although I must admit, there are times that I would debate with myself whether or not to use the ribbons I’d bought. The ribbon lover part of me would want to keep them for myself. Hehehe).

Other things I like: Boxes, abaca bags/wrappers, and paper bags. When I am given gifts that come with beautiful boxes or paper bags, I am as excited of the container as I am with what’s inside. :-) Yeah… most of the times, mababaw ang kalikayahan ko. Hehehe!

Clogged!
What good is a brilliant idea if it is not actualized?
What good is a good intention if it is not properly executed?
What good is proper execution if the idea was not properly brainstormed? (Or, can an idea that is not well thought-out be properly executed?)
cross my mind while I am editing an article on eye problem? And the worst part is, when I tried to process these thoughts, I realized I was not fit (hopefully, only at that moment) to "shape" them well.
Help!

Oh Salve!
since we were in college. I consider her as one of my best friends. I’ve stayed overnight in her place hundreds of times. I've met her family and she has met mine. She is like a sister to me… she and Celestine. I love her warmth, adore her calmness, and respect her mind. I know she is talented. But dammit, how could I not have known she writes good poems?Let me paste here some of her poems:
i, an island
i am an island
the wind is my best friend
whispering news of far
lands in my ears.
the sea is my lover
singing hymns of promise of forever.
the trees are my knights
guarding me to safety and security.
the flowers are my dames
amusing my solitary existence.
the birds are my constant guests
lodging in my trees for a night’s rest.
the sky is my shelter
lighting my path in dark hours.
i am an island
my best friend has joined other winds
passed me by without a glance.
scampering fast, my lover has departed
singing a song of rage and atrocity.
my knights had fallen in battle
bowing their heads in defeat.
tired of enthralling, my dames had
fled and drowned in my lover’s cry.
to a peaceful soil my guests had ran
in search of better refuge.
my shelter has crumpled down
sending needles of spears into my heart.
i cried from pain,
yet i cannot move
i cannot move—
still an island.

What has become of me?
Hope has abandoned me
left me drenched in my own tears
drowned in solitude
What has become of me?
Fate has walked away,
Displeased at my ungrateful countenance
Tired, like my trampled soul—
crashed into pieces.
Tell me, what has become of me?
Please save me,
I need your mercy
Hold my hand tight;
don’t let go—
Oh, it’s too late!
You’re late!
I’m drowning,
falling
fast—
zapped into the black hole of nothingness.
What—oh, nothing!—has become of me?

H&L Team on TV

Ah, never mind. We might have looked and sounded weird on the show, but TV guesting is one heck of an experience. We enjoyed it so much that when we were asked to go back, we replied, “Sige po, iyeskedyul n’yo lang.” That’s a far cry from our original response of “No way!” when the idea of us guesting on our TV program was first brought up.
//I wonder what my family would say when I bring home the DVD for them to watch this Christmas break, besides condemning me for not telling them I'd be on TV so they could have watched me live. Hmmmm...

PUZZLES
PUZZLE 1
It is a six-letter English word, the first three letters of which is the present tense of the next three letters.
Clue: The whole word can be used as a noun, as a verb, or as an adjective.
PUZZLE 2
It is an 11-letter English word.
The first two letters refer to a preposition indicating inclusion, location, or position within limits.
Letters 3 to 5 refer to a three-letter preposition/conjunction.
Letters 6 to 8 refer to a piece of material placed at a door for wiping soiled shoe soles.
Letters 9 to 11 refer to a charged subatomic particle.
PUZZLE 3
It's an 11-letter compound English word.
The meaning of the first word (first five letters) is almost the opposite of that of the second word (letters 6-11). [I used the word ALMOST because the first word in the compound is a verb whereas the second is a noun].
The whole word refers to the person who does the action referred to by the first word without regard for the concept referred to by the second word.
Note: Puzzles are first posted by the author in VF's blog in iluko.com. Puzzle 1 was answered correctly by Mng. Fred Ilac; Mng. Edmund Salvador gave the correct answer for puzzle 2. No one was able to answer puzzle 3.

The blog writer
I’ve always wondered why that is so, and the reason I’ve thought of so far is that writing a blog is like talking to oneself or to a friend; whereas, writing a journalistic piece or an academic paper is like talking to a stranger; or worse, addressing an unfriendly congregation.
When you talk to a friend, there is no inhibition and your mood is quite relaxed. You say whatever you like in any manner that suits you, as long as it doesn’t offend your friend (friends don’t easily take offense, so no problem here). You are yourself; you have no problem letting down your guard, for with friends, there’s no need for pretense.
That’s how I feel whenever I write an entry for my blog. As you may have noticed, the writing style I’ve adapted here — the choice of words and turn of sentences — is quite informal (except, of course, those pieces I posted which were originally written for other purposes/media). Unlike in a journalistic/academic piece, there is no pressure for me to write elegant sentences nor to use standard grammar (international English usage, or standard Philippine English) in my blog. That means I need not think of the English equivalent of some non-English forms because I can use whichever form that readily comes to mind (Iluko or Filipino). What’s more, in my blog, I can invent words and even deliberately misuse (bastardize) a word to suit my purpose (or rather, whims). And the tone! Haha! I can be serious one moment, absurd the next, then turn funny, then be serious again. Ain’t that great?
Another thing I like about writing a blog is that I need not pretend I know a lot of things. I can say I don’t know this or that without worrying that my readers might think I am stupid (I don’t really care because I know I’m not, he he). Whereas, when I write for the magazine, I need to always be sure that I got my facts straight, that my sources are credible, and that I had not misquoted anyone, in addition to being cautious with my writing style — I cannot be too “lifestylish” when I’m writing a health/medical article, nor too structured when I am writing a lifestyle piece.
Writing an academic paper also has its own pressure. For instance, I need to sound like I know my subject and/or that I’ve evaluated the opposing views on the subject at hand and then be able to convince my readers that the stand I’ve taken is the logical one, in addition to being very careful with the words I use, as well as with my syntax.
Given all the pressures that come with the other types of writing that I do, how could I not enjoy writing my blog entries?
But if you have thought that the things I’ve written so far are the reasons that I enjoy writing entries for my blog more than I enjoy other forms of writing, then let me tell you this: you are wrong. I have not been completely honest. To tell you the truth, it’s not the pressures that come with academic and journalistic writing as opposed to the ease of blog writing that makes me prefer the latter to the former. It is really the freedom I enjoy — the freedom to paint the caricature selves of the people I care about through words — that is fueling my zeal to write entry after entry.
So you see, it all boils down to my top pastime — bullying. Why not? I’m suppose to be wicked here, remember? I’m just being my bully self. That’s what I do around friends, di ba?

"Yaya" sisterhood
Salve and I played surrogate mothers to three kids last weekend (two of which are her pamangkins while the third is our inaanak) and guess what we had to go through: kids wanting to pee just as Superman was being assaulted (read: climax). Not only that, we went home kinda broke! But what the heck. We enjoyed every second of that experience. Am sure Celestine was very inggit, her purported pantal and all. Hah!

Parting shots
That is a bit morbid a scenario, but that’s what actually inspired me to write how I would remember my officemates — past and present — when the time for us to part ways (to pursue different directions) comes.
Here we go:
Elaine. Despite all the nice things that Elaine is, I will always remember her as the girl who pretended to be sweet and tahimik during her first 6 weeks in the company. So unsociable she was then that Kiko, Patsy and I often wondered about whether or not her being quiet was for real. And taking into consideration what she turned out to be when she finally decided to peel off her layers — a big bully — I could not help but be glad and sorry at the same time. Glad that I won the wager (I betted that she was just pretending) and sorry because I was one of those whom she chose to (try to) bully.
Patsy. The reigning editorial mascot when I arrived at FAME, Patsy’s “coveted” title may now go either to Chie or Lorien (in my humble opinion). These two imps could sometimes be such a pain in the ass while being so awfully funny that I often find myself wondering what to do — throw at them whatever was in my hand in annoyance or laugh out loud in amusement. But really, there is only one pervert, illogical and sablay person in the world, and that’s Patsy.
Chie Chie. The girl who has yet to learn that punctuation marks serve a purpose, she is both a menace and an angel. I know I will forever be haunted by her soon-to-be-more-famous lines: “Ano’ng oras ang 3pm?” “Ayan, lumamig na tuloy ang ice cream ko,” “Nine AM ng umaga?” and “Miss, meron ba kayong coke na nagyeyelo, yung tipong nag-a-ice?”
Why soon-to-be-more-famous? Well, Chie, boys and girls, is now a commercial model. Her beautiful face is soon to dominate (and add color to) your primetime TV viewing. Hehe
Jing. It comes as a surprise for those who are not in the know, but yes, Jing is Chie Chie’s sister. But while Chie Chie is taranta personified, Jing is the personification of calmness. Everybody would already be panicking, but she would just be sitting there, working calmly and unaffected by the chaos around her, most probably courtesy of — who else? — her dear sister.
Manong Ricco. I’m actually a few months older than him, but I call him Manong. He can be makulit or masungit sometimes, especially when puyat, but he’s such a darling. Whenever I have to stay late (most often until 1:30am; sometimes 4am) in the office, I only need to ask him to please stay late too, and he would be canceling his appointments, including his date with … uh-oh, can’t say (Sowi!). What’s more, he’s one of the very few people who think I look funny when I am mad. In fact, I suspect he enjoys it when I am “sinusumpong” because it is during these times that he laughs most often. Nakakainis!
Ryan. We’re not really related. Neither is he too young (nor I too old), but yup, he calls me “Tita.” He lives in the shadows of his more famous brother (for now) — GMA’s Jiggy Manicad — but Ryan is destined to surpass Jiggy’s fame. And no, not because he is soon to be given big breaks, but because of some “bomba” about him that I would leak to the press.
Just what it might be? Hmmm… I won’t tell. Hehehe
(Disclaimer: Hey, I am just joking about this racket about Ryan. Despite all the kakulitan that he does in the office, he is one sweet guy. Let me borrow Arno’s words when he talked about Ryan and Jiggy: Maganda ang pagpapalaki sa kanila ng kanilang mga magulang. And that, I think, is the highest compliment any person could ever hope to receive.)

(Not so) pathetic valentine
I was halfway through the article yesterday afternoon, when we decided to go home. I saved the article in a diskette, so I could continue writing at home. But as the file was being saved, something happened and the PC shut down. In short, walang na-save sa diskette. I found out after restarting the PC that neither is there a file in the hard disk. Tsk. Tsk.
That isn’t all. When I got home, I started reconstructing everything. I was almost done when I stopped, shortly after midnight. I saved the file in my PC as well as in a diskette. But when I got to the office this morning (Feb 14), the file couldn't be retrieved. Kakaloka...
So I had to re-write the whole thing for the third time. It took me so much time to (re)do it so that I, together with other loveless creatures in the office, had to work OT.
So you see, the gods gave me a valid excuse for not going out on Valentines Day: “I was busy.”
But who the heck am I kidding? If truth be told, I got left out. No one asked me for a date, and on Valentine’s Day at that.
Which got me thinking: Why is it that when you’d deeply appreciate to have someone to ask you out for a date, your phone would be silent but for the messages and calls that have nothing to do with romance? [Not that I would have gone out: I made it a rule not to date on Valentine’s Day itself. I just thought it would have been nice to have someone to turn down, di ba? (Oooopppps! Sorry folks. That’s my wicked and sour-graping self talking. Don’t mind her. Hehehe)] And why, on days when you’d rather stay curled up cozily in your bed, someone would be calling you thousand times, almost begging you for “dinner,” “a stroll,” or whatever they term it? Crazy, isn’t it?
Anyway, we (Elaine, Chie, Lorien, Manong Ricco and I), the office’s loveless gang, worked overtime today. Elaine and Chie Chie thought it was pathetic. But Manong Ricco had these comforting words to offer: “Mabuti na ‘to kesa naman umuwi kayo sa mga bahay n’yo, at maging obvious sa lahat na wala kayong date.”
Oo nga naman! Things could have been worse, di ba?
Besides, we did have a great time in the office naman, doing — nah, not just plain work (ano kami, martir?) — but dyarrraannn — picture taking!
So as millions of lovers were whispering sweet nothings to their partners over candle-lit dinner (or whatever romantic things they did) we were crazily holed up in the office… romancing a digi-cam.
Now, who could say we are [not] a bunch of losers?
Interesting trivia: Would you believe I wrote this blog entry while trying to reconstruct that screwed up article I’m talking about and that it took me only 10 minutes to write this one (compared with the agonizingly long hours I spent for the screwed thing which is even much shorter than this)?
And for the record: After my whining about me being dateless and all, let me set things straight, lest I’d be thought of as some mababaw kind of girl: I really don’t mind. V-day is not for lovers alone. And love isn't just about romance.
Happy Valentine's Day!

The rise of the newest office bully
Now, as a payback for my absence [that’s how I see things, anyway], she took matters into her hand when I asked her “paki-ayos naman ang mga coverages natin this week,” meaning, sort them out. She made confirmation to every single event we were invited to attend, giving my name and hers as the attendees without [let me repeat that, WITHOUT] first consulting with me, or at least checking with me my schedule.
And as if that isn’t enough, as we were eating lunch today at Virgin Café during one of the events she lined up for me to cover, she blurted out, “Ako na ang mag-i-schedule ng mga coverages ninyo nina Elaine, ha?” in a tone that made me wonder whether she was asking me to assign her that job or telling me to oblige.
O my! I don’t know what happened during the two work-days I was away, but suddenly, Chie had grown into a little tyrant. Imagine, she now bullies the big bullies in the office — Elaine and me. Now, with this development, it’s no longer easy to pinpoint who among us is the biggest bully. Everybody now bullies everyone. [Sure, I’m the original, but those little imps are slowly overpowering me. It seems my reign as the office’s biggest bully is about to end.]
Now, going back to my schedule, I understand I am to sit through two more presscons this week: one at Hyatt Hotel (tomorrow) and another at New World Renaissance Hotel (Thursday). I just hope I’ll have a good time.

Lorien's "nose-bleed" antics
Brilliant the idea might have seemed at first, but I am now about to concede that it’s not working. Lorien’s “screw you” points have surpassed her “very good” points (6–4). And just this afternoon, when I blurted out: “Pwede ka palang manganak ng caesarian hanggang five!?” (meaning up to five times); Lorien knowingly answered: “Oo naman! Mama ko nga e, madaling araw!”
God! Kung 'di ka ba naman duguin sa ilong!
PREGNANT women out there! Now you know what to do: Make sure you don’t go on labor beyond five pm, lest you'd find yourselves being refused by the health professional on duty, saying: “Naku, ma’am sorry po, bawal na pong manganak after five! Balik na lang po kayo bukas!”

New disorders discovered...
...among some editorial staff of a monthly magazine.
Shermanized language disorder
This language disorder is characterized by:
- Massive borrowings from three different languages (English, Filipino and Iluko), the structure of which varies depending on the speaker’s location (When in Nueva Vizcaya or any Iluko-speaking place, the structure is Iluko; when elsewhere, the structure is either Filipino or English)
- Wrong word usage
Example:
Shermanized language: Sus, sinisintir mo naman ako!
Correct form: Sus, iniistir mo naman ako!
(Now, where has sinisintir come from? Answer: From the Iluko word 'sintir' which means ‘to condone.’) - Sentences usually interspersed with damn and yeah pronounced in 10,000 different ways
- Accent of indeterminable origin
- Adoption of British accent just to annoy people
- Tendency to use words with double entendre and sexual insinuation (and insist that these insinuations are unintentional)
Example
Question asked to a doctor’s receptionist: Ano po nilalaro ni Doc?
Intended meaning: Ano po ang sport ni Doc?
Patsy syndrome
People with this disorder exhibit:
- Disorganized language and thought (You ask them something and they give an out-of-this-world answer)
Example
Question: Patsy, ano’ng food mo?
Patsy: Oo. - Insatiable thirst for “Kodak” moments (They would smile or pose automatically at the sight of a camera, even if they are not the subject)
- Uncommon passion for “art” films
- Don't know what they really mean
Example:
Patsy: "Naintindihan ko pero hindi ko naintindihan." "Gusto ko siya pero hindi ko talaga siya gusto." (Ano ba talaga ate?)
Patsy syndrome patients also:
- Have a taste for weird food (e.g., dairy cream, pinapapak;)
- Manifest signs of perversion
- Have the tendency to put blame on other people and show no remorse for it
- Have their own brand of logic
Example
If Mini Stop is MS and Country Style is CS, ergo, Goldie’s is GS.
Following that line of logic, Tricky’s then is… TS. (Patsy, am I right?)
- Are a hopeless joker (would even create original jokes normal people would not consider remotely funny)
Examples:
*Babala! (Asawa ni Babalu)
*Ano'ng sinabi ng panda sa photographer? (Sagot: Wag black and white ha, ‘di ako makikita.)
Chie-chie affliction
People with this mental-linguistic disorder tend to:
- Speak in loud voice, but think they are just whispering
- Get over-excited easily
- Have a speech rate of 500 words per minute
- Ignore punctuations such as comma and periods
- Require at least 300 words to say what a normal person can say in 20 words or less
- Exhibit “feeling-close syndrome”
- Insist on pronouncing the /o/ in names (e.g. Jayson) and honorific words (e.g., doctor) “correctly,” meaning, the American English way even when her sentence is purely Filipino
- Have “motherly instinct” over other people – always
- Have broken trail of thought
- Have unidentifiable intonation
Elaine condition
People with this problem tend to:
- Say “Hay naku” and “wala na akong sinabi”
- Have unconquerable fear of feathered animals
- Be violent: (50 hampas per day)
- Find it hard to pronounce "myths"
Warning
These conditions are highly contagious. Refrain from hanging out with people who have any of these diseases.
Treatment
These diseases are treatable but not curable. They may recur at least three times a day and the chances of relapse are especially high when people afflicted with these conditions hang out together. Best treatments available are: a good night’s sleep and food either from Tricky’s, Mini-stop, Goldie’s or Country Style.

A visit to a psychiatrist
The writer I asked to write an article on schizophrenia for the mental health issue of Health and Lifestyle informed me that she couldn’t write the article. As it was already too late for me to assign someone else to write it (who would accept an assignment that involves a lot of research and an interview just three days before the deadline?), I was left with no other option but to write the article myself (that’s one of the difficult aspects of my job).
Fortunately, I was able to find a psychiatrist willing to be interviewed at short notice (I made an appointment with her a day before the interview).
I arrived at the
doctor’s clinic on time, but was told by the receptionist that the doctor was still seeing a patient. She asked me to sit down and wait for the doctor at the receiving area, which I did. After ten minutes of doing nothing, I started to get bored, so I fumbled with my digicam, then, with the receptionist’s permission, “tested” if it worked by taking pictures inside the room. I noticed two doctors look my way while I was taking photos. But since they didn’t say anything, I pretended not to notice them. But I wonder what they may have been thinking, seeing me doing weird things right outside the psychiatrist’s clinic. Hmm…
My officemates reckon such a scene would not elicit any reaction from the doctors, that they may have just thought I was a new patient. What do you think?
